Sport

At Representation UK, we have experience of acting for shareholders and directors of football clubs, and in dealing with acquisitions, disposals, reorganisations and re-structurings.  We have represented sports teams and their owners from both ends of the alphabet and the country: from AFC Bournemouth to York City, and from Bradford City to Yeovil Town.

We know that football is an emotive subject and that football chairmen walk a fine line between trying to bring success on the pitch, whilst retaining some sanity on the club’s balance sheet. It is no easy task and we take our hat off to you all.

We are familiar with the Football League Regulations and we have something of a unique insight into how to protect a football club’s real estate, such as its stadiums and training grounds, from the possibility of their being lost in the event of an insolvency (something which remains a risk, even for the most well-supported teams, particularly if they are in the lower leagues). We are also familiar with how licensing and image rights work, as well as sponsorship arrangements and the negotiation of complex commercial contracts.

Consequently, if football chairmen, shareholders and senior management ever want to seek our advice, we are always happy to oblige. And, of course, our involvement always remains completely confidential.
